Productive Learning in Sachsen-Anhalt
PLISA - an answer to PISA
The project Productive Learning in
Schools in Saxony-Anhalt started in the school year 2002/03.
Thus it will draw from extremely positive results of school pilot
projects in Productive Learning in Berlin Schools (PLEBS).
As in Berlin, the project here also has a double
aim. Productive Learning is, on the one hand, a contribution
to the school reform of the Sekundarstufe 1 (secondary level) in comprehensive
schools and, on the other hand, an answer to the results of the PISA
study. Through Productive Learning, pupils whose needs are
not met, or not sufficiently met, by the traditional school system
will be able to obtain relevant school leaving certificates according
to their educational capabilities - or better certificates than they
would be able to obtain in a general school.
In addition, Productive Learning provides
pupils with an individual and intensive vocational orientation and,
in this way, helps to reduce unemployment among young people and make
up for their lack of vocational training in a systematic way. At the
same time, Productive Learning closes the gap between general
education, professional choice and the world of work itself. This
is why the project is promoted with financial support from the European
Social Fund.
Productive Learning in Saxony-Anhalt will
initially be established in the form of a pilot project in forms 8
and 9 in seven secondary schools. The school pilot projects are supervised
theoretically and methodologically by the Berlin Institute of Productive
Learning in Europe (IPLE). The schools will develop their
own schemes on the basis of the framework scheme Productive Learning
in Schools in Saxony-Anhalt.
Participating educators develop, test and evaluate
their respective educational projects within the framework of a further
education programme that is part of the project. In doing so, they
are supported by the institute which regularly gives location-specific
advice. The institute's tasks of offering further training and giving
advice are supplemented through the professional and organisational
promotion of regional, extra-regional and international networks of
school pilot projects within the framework of the International
Network of Productive Schools (INEPS). This network is also to
be developed through exchanges and meetings of pupils and educators.
Furthermore, the institute carries out PR- related and regional and
extra-regional dissemination tasks. It also publishes the results
of the projects.
Since 2003/04 the IPLE also trains project
developers who, after an initial project phase which runs over a number
of years, will be responsible for the academic supervision of further
school pilot projects.
The project Productive Learning in Saxony-Anhalt
Schools is to be carried out in four phases from 2002/03 to 2006/07.
