Productive Learning in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania

Productive Learning represents a new form of general education at secondary schools in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania. It allows pupils to have an individualised vocational orientation in the 8th, 9th and 10th grade of "Regional Schools" and thus attempts to close the gap between general education and vocational orientation. Pupils in Productive Learning in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania receive a Secondary School Certificate being successful at the end of the programme.

A few current figures that proof the efficiency of Productive Learning in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania:

79% of the young people (which often have been at risk to gain any school degree) have graduated and gained a regular school degree at the end of school year 2009/10,
53% were 6 months later engaged in an apprenticeship,
100 teachers have been qualified to Educators of Productive Learning by passing through two years of further education studies.

27 schools run the project based on the Framework of Productive Learning at Secondary Schools in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania. In doing so, the participating educators were theoretically and methodologically trained and counselled by the IPLE.

The project's progress will be documented in annual evaluations made by the educators and the IPLE.
